After weeks of being holed up in our work/home, our ever spontaneous friend decided for a relaxing Bantayan trip! Took a 4 hours bus ride from Cebu North Terminal to Hagnaya Port, and an hour to Sta Fe, Bantayan.
We checked in to Hoyohoy Villas and the place was perfectly chill! Never been to a resort like this before. Aside from the quiet resort, the season was perfect for a relaxed atmosphere – few tourists, sunny weather, endless sea breeze – it felt that the resort belonged to us. The beach area in our resort was quite shallow, so it wasn’t really ideal for snorkeling; walked quite far from the shore and it was only knee-deep! So we settled with just lying down by the shallow crystal-clear waters, under the warm sun, fanned by the gentle and cool sea breeze. We spent most of our time in their outdoor beds enjoying the breeze and thinking of nothing.
Hoyohoy Villas, as it name implies are just made up of a few villas and some basic rooms, so even if in full capacity, I believe the place won’t be so crowded. So this resort is made for relaxing and a quiet atmosphere.
Sta Fe is a haven for tourists, looking to relax and dine. The locals are really friendly, there will be some constant offers of island hopping but we were into laid-back beach vacation. Our main mode of transport was with a tricycle which costs 20 Php per head. We rented a bike for 150 Php a day, toured around a bit and posed for some touristy photos. They have an authentic Italian restaurant which we enjoyed for dinner. They also have an authentic French bakery, a perfect breakfast for a relaxed island holiday.
Overall, the experience was amazing. I was told that during Holy Week, the place gets too crowded that the town never sleeps. We were lucky that the it wasn’t peak season, and the perfectly destressing atmosphere we were looking for was right there at the moment.
